Gata Negra

Friday, September 24th, 2010

Pop, noise, improv and the spaces in between. Gata Negra are a three piece band from Perth, Western Australia. Founded in 1999, this group created a niche for themselves and toured Europe and Australia several times, releasing three albums, an EP and commissioning two videos with film maker Andrew Ewing. Their albums have been licensed overseas through Telescopic. They have influenced a whole swag of Perth bands.

Made up of bassist and sultry songstress Cat Hope (Abe Sada), less is more drummer Pete Guazzelli (The Kids, Fall Electric) and guitar legend Bill Darby (O, Harry Smith) this is music to ponder.

Their last album, Ruby, as the band has since parted ways, was released in November 2006.
