Jazz music at WAAPA represents the cutting edge in jazz performance in Australia. The University is represented on an International level regularly by its students, lecturers and alumni. Composers from the jazz program in recent times have included Johannes Leubbers, who has recently released the “Make Some Noise” CD with his dectet, and Dan Thorne who is currently Composer in Residence at WAAPA.

The Jazz program is headed by some of the best musicians of Western Australia, headed by the Music Program Director Graham Wood, Coordinator of Jazz Studies Jamie Oehlers and an array of lecturers and sessionals who are regular international performers.
